About GATE 2020
Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering is a national level postgraduate entrance examination. GATE will be jointly conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore and seven Indian Institute of Technology. It is a mandatory examination for getting admission and financial assistance to the Master’s programs and Doctoral programs in the fields of Engineering, Technology, Architecture. Latest Announcements of GATE 2020
- GATE 2019 has been conducted by the IIT Madras. This year IIT Delhi has been taken the responsibility to conduct the GATE 2020 entrance examination.
- In 2020, the GATE 2020 examination will be conducted for 25 papers in the engineering disciplines. Biomedical Engineering is a new paper has been added to the list of subjects.
- In GATE 2020, there are 6 international test centres has been introduced i.e., Addis Ababa, Colombo, Dhaka, Dubai, Kathmandu, and Singapore.
GATE 2020 Eligibility Criteria
Before starting to fill the application form, the candidate must ensure that he/she fulfill the below mentioned general and educational criteria.
Nationality
- Students who are currently studying or already completed their studies from the India and Foreign nationals are eligible to apply GATE 2020 examination.
- Candidates who have obtained/are pursuing their degree from countries other than India should satisfy the below-mentioned
- Must have completed or are in the final year of their undergraduate degree in Engineering / Technology (at least 4 years).
- Must have completed or are in the final year of their postgraduate degree in any respective subjects in the field of science.
Age Limit
There is no age limit to participate in the GATE 2020 examination

The entire process of filling the application form will be in online mode other offline mode applications are not accepted by the authority. The online application form filling process has three or four stages to complete the whole process i.e.,

Step 1: Registration at GOAPS
Before starting to fill the application form, the student should register at the GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS). In this stage candidates have to provide their full name, email address, mobile number, etc., The generated enrollment ID and password are will be sent to the registered mail id. These ID and password are the candidate’s login credentials to fill the application process of the GATE 2020 examination.
Step 2: Upload the Documents
After the registration process, candidates should need to log in the GOASP website for filling the GATE Application Form 2020. Candidates are advised to fill the application form carefully with free from mistakes and error information. In this stage, applicants should upload some necessary documents at the time of form filling. Their important documents are listed as follows.

Note: The maximum size for a candidate’s photograph JPEG can be 480X640 in pixels and minimum size can be 240X320 pixels. The background color must be a white or light color. The maximum size of a candidate’s signature can be 160X560 in pixels and minimum size should be 80X280 in pixels.
Step 3: GATE 2020 Application Fees
The application fees of GATE examination is neither refundable nor transferable. The application fees will be paid in the online mode through credit/debit/net banking. Application fees of GATE 2020 examination as listed below as tabular format.

Step 4: Print Confirmation Page
Candidates are advised to check and ensure that all the details and uploaded documents there is no error in that process. If the application once submitted, it cannot be changed/rectified. If all the details have been verified by the candidate, then can submit the application form. Finally, take a printout the confirmation page of the filled application and the payment successful receipt from the GOASP website. For updated notification regarding GATE exam 2020 time to time visit the official page of the GATE organizing institute (IIT Delhi).
Note: Candidates can make the corrections on the application form after the exam conducting authority will announce to notification of application form correction. Approximately the application correction window tentatively will be open in the last week of November. At that time candidates can change their details like gender/caste/exam city within the stipulated time.

Design Pattern of Questions
Normally the exam pattern has the three sections i.e., General Aptitude, Technical + Engineering Mathematics. The exam pattern may be varied based on the selected subjects by the candidates. General Aptitude (15 Marks)
GA questions carry a total of 15 marks which 5 questions carrying 1 mark weightage and remaining 5 questions carrying 2 marks weightage.
Question Papers other than GG, XE, and XL (85 Marks + 15 Marks (GA))
These papers contain totally 25 questions with 1 mark weightage and 30 questions carrying 2 marks. There is totally subtotal of 85 marks.
Geology and Geophysics (GG) Paper (85 Marks + 15 Marks (GA))
GG paper consists of two parts i.e., PART A and PART B. PART A is compulsory for this paper. The PART B is divided into two sections. i.e., Section-1 (Geology) and Section-2 (Geophysics). PART A contains 25 questions with 1 mark weightage and 30 questions carrying the 2 marks weightage. There is totally subtotal of 85 marks.
Engineering Sciences (XE) Paper
General Aptitude – GA carrying a total of 15 marks.
Engineering Mathematics (Compulsory) – It contains 11 questions carrying a total of 15 marks. First 7 questions with 1 mark weightage and remaining 4 questions carrying 2 marks weightage.
