Candidates who want to be a teacher for classes I to V must take paper 1. Duration of paper – I will be 2 ½ hours. The paper consists of 150 questions which are divided equally into eight sections as listed below.

Exam pattern for HTET Teacher Eligibility Test (Paper 2)
HTET Candidates who want to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII must take paper 2. Duration of paper – II will be 2 ½ hours. The paper consists of 150 questions and would test applicants in 4 sections as listed below.

The Test items for Language I (Hindi) will focus on the proficiencies related to the medium of instruction.
The Language II (English) will focus on the elements of language, communication and comprehension abilities.
The questions in the tests for Paper I will be based on the topics of the prescribed syllabus for classes I-V, but their difficulty standard, as well as linkages, could be upto the secondary stage.
HTET overview for Examination
SCHEME
The duration of examination will be two and a half hours. There shall be only one paper having 150 ” Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)” each carrying one mark with four alternatives out of which one answer will be correct. The question paper for each category will be based on the content & structure as prescribed by the Department of School Education, Government of Haryana.
- who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V and fulfills the minimum qualification.
- who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII and fulfills the minimum qualification.
- who intends to be a lecturer for classes IX to XII and fulfills the minimum qualification.
IMPORTANT NOTE
After qualifying HTET the candidates will acquire the eligibility in respect of having qualified HTET. However, such HTET qualified candidates will need to satisfy all eligibility requirements as per State Recruitment Rules in order to become qualified for getting recruited as a teacher of respective category in any of the school as per the qualifying condition laid down by prospective employers.
Qualifying marks for TGT:
For all categories except Scheduled caste and Differently abled/Physically Challenged – 60% (90 marks)
For Scheduled caste and Differently abled/Physically Challenged of Haryana Domicile – 55% (82 marks)
For Scheduled caste and Differently abled/Physically Challenged of another state – 60% (90 marks)
HTET Qualifying Criteria
FOR SCHEDULED CASTE CANDIDATES: 55% (83 out of 150)
FOR ALL OTHER CATEGORIES CANDIDATES: 60% (90 out of 150)

Written Examination Preparation Method
The test items in subject-specific will focus on the concepts, problem-solving abilities and pedagogical understanding of these subjects.
