Eligibility or Qualification

All applicants must full fill the essential requirements of the post and other conditions stipulated in the advertisement. They are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess at least the essential qualifications laid down for various posts. No enquiry asking for advice as to eligibility will be entertained.
Matriculation/10th Standard or equivalent certificate indicating date of birth, or mark sheet of Matriculation/10th Standard or equivalent issued by Central/State Board indicating Date of Birth in support of claim of age. Where date of birth is not available in certificate/mark sheets, issued by concerned Educational Boards, School leaving certificate indicating Date of Birth (in case of Tamil Nadu& Kerala).

Selection Process

The candidates as recommended by the Screening Committee will be invited for Trade Test. Those who qualify in the Trade Test will be invited for a competitive written examination. The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the performance of the candidate in the competitive written examination.
As per the decision taken by the Government for increasing the access of unemployed to job opportunities, the Commission will publicly disclose the scores of the candidates (obtained in the Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test) through the public portals. The disclosure will be made in respect of only those candidates who will appear in the Interview/Personality Test for the Combined Geo-scientist and Geologist Examination and are not finally recommended for appointment.

  • All the questions in the paper are conventional (Essay) type.
  • The question paper is given in only English language.
  • Written exam contains 4 papers. English is common for all the posts.
  • Each paper has 200 marks and 3 hrs time for the test.
  • All Question papers must be answered in English. The Question Papers will be set in English only.
  • The standard and syllabus of the examination will be as shown in the Schedule.

Interview/Personality Test: The candidate will be interviewed by a Board of competent and unbiased observers who will have before them a record of his/ her career. The object of the interview is to assess his/her suitability for the posts for which he/she has competed.
Special attention will be paid in the Personality Test to assessing the candidate’s capacity for leadership, initiative and intellectual curiosity, tact and other social qualities, mental and physical energy, powers of practical application, integrity of character and aptitude for adapting themselves to the field life.

On the Day when you appears for written examination

  • Candidates require reaching at written examination location at least 30 minutes before.
  • Candidates are not permitting to bring books or other notes with them on examination centers.
  • Don’t come with your family because no one is permitted to go inside at examination center premises.
  • Calculator with memory, watches and other electronic item are not allowed to bring at written examination centers.
  • Candidates make sure to bring Admit Card/Hall ticket before appearing written examination.
