Selection Process
The prescribed ‘essential qualifications’ are the minimum and mere possession of the same does not entitle applicants to be called in for the interview. Where the number of applications received in response to the advertisement is large and it is not convenient or possible for the Commission to interview all the applicants the Commission may restrict the number of candidates for interview to a reasonable limit on the basis of either higher qualifications in the relevant subjects/higher standard of marks/grade obtained in the essential qualifications or experience in relevant field higher than the minimum prescribed in the advertisement or on the basis of a Screening Test/Written Test.
The Commission may fix qualifying cut-off marks for all the categories of the vacancies in each level of examination, i.e. written, interview and aggregate.

Exam Pattern for WBPSC Sub Inspector of Schools 2018
All Shortlisted/eligible candidates will have appear in written examination consisting of objective type questions based on the based on Essential/Desirable qualifications, as mentioned at para 4 above and bilingual in both English & Hindi (except for General English) covering aspects as below.

- The Preliminary Written Examination shall be a screening test for selection of candidates for the PMT & PET. The duration of the examination will be 1½ hours.
- The West Bengal Police Recruitment Board shall be the competent agency to prescribe for minimum cut off marks for each category and post taking into account the number of vacancies proposed to be filled up in each category and post.
- The Preliminary Written Examination will either be an OMR based examination or computer based on-line examination (CBT) depending on the number of applicants & other administrative factors.
- In case of OMR based examination the question paper will be set in two languages (English & Bengali) except the questions on Bengali/Nepali.
- In case of computer based on-line examination (CBT) there will be a 15 (fifteen) days window preceding the date of Written Examination for mock test/practice.
Physical Measurement Test (PMT) & Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
The candidates qualified in the PMT shall be eligible to appear in the PET.
The PMT & PET shall be conducted by the West Bengal Police Recruitment Board.
